EFL League One is the third tier of English football and the second level of the English Football League. The competition has operated under the League One name since 2004 and features 24 clubs competing in a double round-robin league format, with each team playing 46 matches per season. The current League One champion is Lincoln City, winner of the 2025–26 season.
Lincoln City and Cardiff City earned automatic promotion to the EFL Championship, while Bolton Wanderers secured promotion through the playoffs. Each season, the top two clubs are promoted directly, the clubs finishing from third to sixth compete in the playoffs for the final promotion place, and the bottom four clubs are relegated to EFL League Two.
