Ligue 1 is the top division of French football. Founded in 1932, it currently features 18 clubs competing in a double round-robin league format, with each team playing 34 matches per season. The current Ligue 1 champion is Paris Saint-Germain, winner of the 2025–26 season.
The clubs with the most Ligue 1 titles are Paris Saint-Germain, Saint-Étienne and Olympique de Marseille. Each season, the bottom two clubs are relegated to Ligue 2, while the 16th-placed team enters a relegation playoff against a Ligue 2 side.
The best-performing clubs qualify for UEFA competitions, including the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, based on their league position, domestic cup results and UEFA qualification rules.
