Liga Portugal, officially known as Primeira Liga, is the top division of Portuguese football. Founded in 1934, it currently features 18 clubs competing in a double round-robin format, with each team playing 34 matches per season. The current Liga Portugal champions are FC Porto, winners of the 2025–26 season. The clubs with the most Portuguese league titles are Benfica, FC Porto and Sporting CP. Each season, the bottom clubs are relegated to Liga Portugal 2, while the leading clubs qualify for UEFA competitions depending on league position, domestic cup results and UEFA qualification rules.
