Primeira Liga is the first division in Portugal. It was founded in 1934 and currently features 18 clubs. The 2024–25 champions are Sporting CP. Most titles: Benfica (38), Porto (30), Sporting CP (21). Two clubs are relegated each season; double round-robin, 34 matchdays and the 16th plays a two-legged relegation play-off against Liga Portugal 2’s third-placed team. European qualification: 2 spots for the UEFA Champions League, 2 for the Europa League, 1 for the Conference League.
