Ligue 2 is the second division of French football. Founded in 1933, it currently features 18 clubs competing in a double round-robin league format, with each team playing 34 matches per season. The current Ligue 2 champion is Troyes, winner of the 2025–26 season. Each season, the best-performing clubs are promoted to Ligue 1, while the lowest-ranked clubs are relegated to Championnat National according to the season format and final standings.
