Categoría Primera A is the first division in Colombia. It was founded in 1948 and currently features 20 clubs. The 2025–I champions are Santa Fe. Most titles: Atlético Nacional (18), Millonarios (16), América de Cali (15). Relegation is based on a three-season average table (promedio): the two lowest-ranked clubs are relegated each year to Categoría Primera B. The season is split into two independent tournaments, Apertura and Finalización, each with a single round-robin first stage, semi-final groups (cuadrangulares) and a two-legged final. Continental qualification: 4 spots for the Copa Libertadores and 4 for the Copa Sudamericana, allocated to the two league champions, the Copa Colombia winner and the best-placed sides in the aggregate table.
