Liga 1 is the top division of Peruvian football and is officially branded as Liga 1 Te Apuesto. Founded as Peru's national top-flight championship in 1912 and run in its current professional league structure by the Federación Peruana de Fútbol, it currently features 18 clubs in the 2026 season. The 2026 campaign is in progress, with Universitario de Deportes entering the season as defending champions after winning the 2025 title and completing three consecutive league championships. The season is structured around Apertura and Clausura stages, with relegation to Liga 2 decided through the final standings.
