Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (Brasileirão) is the first division in Brazil. It was founded in 1959 and currently features 20 clubs. The 2024 champions are Botafogo. Most titles: Palmeiras (12), Santos (8), Corinthians and Flamengo (7 each). Four clubs are relegated each season to Série B; double round-robin, 38 matchdays. Continental qualification: 6 spots for the Copa Libertadores (including qualifying rounds), 6 for the Copa Sudamericana, with an additional Libertadores place for the Copa do Brasil winners.
