The UEFA Conference League is UEFA’s third-tier club competition for teams from across Europe, sitting below the Champions League and Europa League. Founded in 2021 as the UEFA Europa Conference League and renamed the UEFA Conference League from 2024–25, it adopted a new 36-team league phase from 2024–25, replacing the old group stage. Each club plays six different opponents (three home, three away); the top eight qualify directly for the round of 16, teams ranked 9th–24th enter knockout play-offs, and those in 25th–36th are eliminated. Clubs qualify via their domestic league and cup performance, with the competition giving more associations a route into UEFA club football. The Conference League winners earn a place in the following season’s Europa League league phase, unless they qualify for the Champions League through their domestic league. The 2024–25 champions are Chelsea. Most titles: Roma, West Ham United, Olympiacos and Chelsea (1 each).
