Middlesbrough’s new badge is a red-and-white roundel with the club name wrapped around the outer ring, the foundation year split as “18” and “76,” and a red lion rampant in the centre. The design restores a circular format while keeping the lion as the dominant symbol of the club’s identity.
The lion is a long-standing Middlesbrough emblem, linked to the town’s historic arms and the De Brus family connected with the area’s early history. The “1876” date marks the founding of Middlesbrough Football Club, while the red-and-white palette reflects the colours most closely associated with Boro.
The badge is a modern return to the roundel style used after the club’s 1986 revival, replacing the shield crest introduced in 2007. Announced in 2025, it is set to come into use from June 2026 as Middlesbrough approach their 150th anniversary.
