Costa Rica’s national team badge is a white shield with a gold outline, dark blue side panels and a large red “CR” monogram in the centre. The top edge uses three pointed forms, while the red, white and blue palette reflects the colours of the Costa Rican flag.
The “CR” initials stand for Costa Rica, giving the national team a separate visual identity from the federation’s longer institutional mark. The shield shape and flag colours were introduced to connect the badge more directly with Costa Rica’s national emblem and national flag.
The current crest was unveiled in 2021 as part of a full rebrand by the Costa Rican Football Federation. It replaced the older footballer-based emblem with a cleaner, more modern symbol built around the country’s initials, national colours and heraldic shield inspiration.
