Belize’s national team badge is a dark shield with a yellow outline, a red top panel reading “BELIZE,” and “Founded 1980” near the bottom. The centre places the Football Federation of Belize name around a football shape containing the country’s coat of arms.
The coat of arms links the badge directly to Belizean national identity. It includes a mahogany tree, woodcutting tools, a ship, two human supporters and the motto “Sub Umbra Floreo,” meaning “Under the shade I flourish,” a reference to Belize’s forests and mahogany history.
The Football Federation of Belize was founded in 1980, which is why that date appears on the crest. The badge combines the federation’s football role with national symbols also seen on the Belize flag.
