Cadiz CF badge meaning and origin

Cádiz CF’s badge uses an inverted triangular shape divided in yellow and blue, with the club name across the top and a ducal crown above it. The centre shows the city arms of Cádiz: Hercules standing between two lions, with the Pillars of Hercules behind him.

The Hercules scene links the badge directly to Cádiz’s civic heraldry and local foundation legend, where Hercules is associated with the ancient city of Gadir. The crown is not a royal title for the club; Cádiz CF explains it as a ducal crown connected to the historic Duchy of Cádiz.

The club’s badge has evolved from early port-flag-style symbols and the Mirandilla FC era. As Mirandilla, the crest already used an inverted triangle and a city-arms reference, before the Cádiz identity later restored Hercules, the lions and the columns more clearly.

The current emblem keeps the yellow-and-blue football identity while preserving the city’s most recognisable heraldic symbol at the centre of the badge.
