Córdoba badge meaning and origin

Córdoba CF’s badge uses an inverted triangular shield with green-and-white vertical stripes, a gold crown above it and a yellow football near the lower point. The centre contains a heraldic shield with red lions and gold castles, framed by the club’s traditional blanquiverde colours.

The inner shield comes from historic Córdoba heraldry and is today associated with the Diputación de Córdoba. Its castles and lions derive from the old arms of the Kingdom of León, which were also used in Córdoba’s civic symbols. The football at the bottom makes the local heraldic design specific to the club.

Córdoba CF was founded in 1954 after the disappearance of RCD Córdoba and inherited both its crest and green-and-white colours. That link also explains the crown, which remained from the Real-title predecessor even though the current club is not officially “Real.”

The badge has kept the same basic structure since 1954, with only small visual refinements over time.
