Konyaspor badge meaning and origin

Konyaspor’s badge is a green-and-white circular emblem with the club name around the top, the foundation year 1922 below, a dark double-headed eagle in the centre, and two green laurel branches framing the lower half.

The double-headed eagle is closely associated with Konya’s Seljuk heritage. Konya was the capital of the Sultanate of Rum, and the two-headed eagle became one of the best-known symbols linked to Seljuk art, architecture and rule in Anatolia.

Konyaspor was founded in 1922 and is officially presented by the club as one of Turkish football’s historic sides. The green-and-white colours are the club’s modern identity, while the badge keeps its strongest local reference through the Seljuk eagle, tying Konyaspor directly to the history and visual culture of Konya.
