CD Mirandés badge meaning and origin

CD Mirandés’ badge uses an inverted triangular shape in the club’s red and black colours, with the letters C, D and M placed around the sides and lower point. The centre shows a black eagle above two towers, a bridge over blue water, and the foundation year written in Roman numerals as MCMXXVII.

The eagle, towers, bridge and river come from the coat of arms of Miranda de Ebro, linking the badge directly to the club’s city. The red and black diagonal sections reflect Mirandés’ traditional football colours and its long-running “rojillo” identity.

CD Mirandés was founded in Miranda de Ebro on May 3, 1927. The current-style badge was created in 1944 by José Ayo Barrio, around the time the club first competed in Spain’s Tercera División.

Its design has remained strongly local ever since, combining the city’s heraldic imagery, the club initials, the 1927 foundation date and Mirandés’ red-and-black identity in one compact crest.
