Red Bull Salzburg badge meaning and origin

Red Bull Salzburg’s badge is a white shield with a dark blue border, the red “Red Bull” wordmark at the top, two red bulls facing each other around a football, a yellow circular background, and “Salzburg” curved along the bottom. A single gold star sits above the badge.

The two bulls and the Red Bull wordmark come from the club’s modern identity after Red Bull acquired the former SV Austria Salzburg in 2005. The badge replaced the older Austria Salzburg colours and crest with the red, white, yellow and navy identity used across the Red Bull football brand.

The club’s roots go back to 1933, when SV Austria Salzburg was formed from the merger of FC Hertha and FC Rapid Salzburg. In UEFA competitions, the club is presented as FC Salzburg with a modified crest because of sponsorship rules.
