Defensor Sporting’s badge is a purple-and-white shield with the Punta Carretas lighthouse at the top and horizontal purple lines behind it. In the lower section, two interlocking rings, one blue and one red, contain the black initials “D S C.”
The lighthouse is a historic symbol of Club Atlético Defensor, rooted in the Punta Carretas area of Montevideo. The interlocking red and blue rings come from Sporting Club Uruguay, whose identity was integrated after the 1989 merger that created Defensor Sporting Club.
The badge therefore combines the two institutions behind the modern club: Defensor, founded in 1913, and Sporting Club Uruguay, founded in 1910. Its purple colour remains the strongest link to Defensor’s football identity, while the rings preserve Sporting’s sporting heritage.
