Cruzeiro’s badge is a blue roundel framed by a white ring with the blue inscription “CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE” and, at the centre, five white five-pointed stars arranged as the Southern Cross against a solid blue field. The stars refer directly to the Cruzeiro do Sul constellation on the Brazilian flag, which inspired the club’s new name when Palestra Itália was rebranded in 1942 during World War II.
A simple blue circle with the five stars became the first Cruzeiro crest in 1950; in 1959 the outer ring with the club name and city was added, creating the classic round badge later refined by dropping “Belo Horizonte” while keeping the constellation as the club’s core symbol.
