The flag is the main symbol of the logo. The repeated triangles and curved colour blocks give the badge a sense of motion. They visually suggest teams moving between levels, which fits the Nations League format where national teams are grouped into leagues and can rise or fall based on performance. The flag shape also makes the mark feel clearly international, connecting the competition to national colours, national identity and representative football.

The dark UEFA Nations League wordmark below the flag gives the logo a strong institutional base, while the colourful flag above adds energy and distinctiveness. This contrast helps the mark work across broadcast graphics, match branding, digital media and tournament materials.

Historically, the UEFA Nations League brand was launched in 2017 before the first edition of the competition in 2018. UEFA’s marketing director described the identity as bold, colourful and dynamic, created to give the new competition its own place in the football brand landscape. The official trophy was later inspired by the same flag logo, wrapping the competition’s flag concept around a silver trophy form.
