Torino badge meaning and origin

Torino’s badge is a maroon shield with a thin gold outline, the club name “TORINO” in a white band across the top and a powerful white rampant bull dominating the field, flanked by the date “1906” on the left and the letters “FC” on the right.

The bull has appeared on every Torino crest and comes directly from the civic arms of the city, where it symbolises strength and gives the club its nickname Il Toro.  The current shield was introduced in 2005–06 after the bankruptcy of Torino Calcio, with the “1906” added shortly afterwards to recall the founding of the original Foot-Ball Club Torino.
