Raja Casablanca (الرجاء الرياضي) badge meaning and origin

Raja Casablanca’s badge is a green-and-white circular crest with Arabic text at the top, “Raja Club Athletic” at the bottom, a green eagle in the centre holding a football, one large gold star above the crest, and three smaller gold stars below.

The eagle is Raja’s historic emblem and mascot. It has been associated with the club since its foundation, representing a strong, prestigious and combative identity; this is also why Raja is widely nicknamed the “Green Eagles.”

The green and white colours are central to Raja’s identity. Green was chosen by the founders and is commonly linked with hope and growth, while white is associated with Casablanca, often called the “White City.”

The stars mark major honours: the three smaller stars represent Raja’s CAF Champions League titles in 1989, 1997 and 1999, while the larger top star was added after the club’s tenth Moroccan league title in 2011. Raja was founded in Casablanca on 20 March 1949.
