Palmeiras badge meaning and origin

Palmeiras’ badge is a green circular crest with a double white outline, a green outer ring dotted with eight small white stars and the club name “PALMEIRAS” in bold white capitals across the lower half. Inside sits a white disc containing a green shield, whose outline echoes the Savoy cross and frames an ornate white “P” set over a field of fine vertical stripes.

The shield preserves the “P” used since the club’s Palestra Italia days, linking today’s emblem to its Italian-founded origins in 1914 and the enforced name change to Palmeiras in 1942.  The eight stars reference August, the eighth month, while the 26 stripes behind the “P” allude to the club’s founding date of 26 August, embedding that anniversary directly into the crest.
