Osasuna badge meaning and origin

Osasuna’s badge is a pointed shield split red and blue, topped by a golden crown and charged with a smaller white escutcheon bearing a crowned golden lion, ringed by circular links and the initials C, A and O. The red and blue background are the club’s historic colours, while the lion and crown are taken directly from the coat of arms of Pamplona, underlining Osasuna’s identity as the city’s representative team. The chain-like ring around the inner shield recalls the chained emblem of the old Kingdom of Navarre. The initials stand for Club Atlético Osasuna, and these basic elements have been present since the club’s first crest in the early 1920s.
