UD Las Palmas’ badge uses a large blue shield topped by a royal crown, with yellow scrolls reading “Las Palmas” and “Gran Canaria.” The centre shows the municipal arms of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, while the lower section includes the small crests of the five clubs that merged to form the modern club.
Those five founding emblems refer to Real Club Victoria, Arenas Club, Club Deportivo Gran Canaria, Marino Fútbol Club and Atlético Club. The crown comes through that inherited badge tradition, especially Real Club Victoria, even though UD Las Palmas itself does not use the “Real” title.
UD Las Palmas was founded on August 22, 1949, as a union of major Gran Canaria clubs created to compete nationally and keep Canarian talent on the islands. That origin explains the club’s full name, Unión Deportiva.
The badge is therefore unusually historical: it works less as a simple logo and more as a visual record of the city, island and clubs that created UD Las Palmas.
