Hellas Verona badge meaning and origin

Hellas Verona’s badge is a minimalist yellow emblem showing two stylised mastiff heads facing opposite directions, forming a “V” shape, with a four-rung ladder set between them and the club name “HELLAS VERONA FC” usually written above.

The mastiffs reference the club nickname I Mastini and honour Mastino I and Mastino II della Scala, powerful lords of medieval Verona.  The ladder comes from the coat of arms of the Della Scala (Scaligeri) family, whose name and heraldry are deeply tied to the city’s identity.  First introduced in 1984 and reintroduced in a simplified form in 2020, this crest distils Verona’s colours and Scaligeri symbolism into a compact, contemporary mark.
