Deportivo de La Coruña’s badge uses a crowned circular crest wrapped by a white belt and a purple cross-shaped banner. The ring carries the full name “Real Club Deportivo La Coruña,” while the central banner includes a small crown and sits over black-and-white sections.
The belt and purple-and-white banner come from the emblem of Sala Calvet, the gymnasium where the club was founded. The diagonal sky-blue stripe is linked to the maritime flag of A Coruña and the Galician flag, while the crown reflects the “Real” title granted by King Alfonso XIII in the early 20th century.
The club was founded in 1906 as Club Deportivo de la Sala Calvet and soon became Real Club Deportivo after receiving royal patronage. Its blue-and-white playing identity was formally adopted in 1912.
During the Spanish Republic, the royal title and crown were removed from the badge, before later returning. The modern crest preserves that layered history: Sala Calvet, A Coruña, Galicia and the club’s royal designation.
