Al Khaleej (الخليج) badge meaning and origin

Al Khaleej Club’s badge uses a green teardrop-shaped shield with a yellow eagle icon in the centre. The club name appears in Arabic and English below the bird, with the founding year 1945 placed underneath. Subtle green linework fills the background, while the outer border keeps the mark in the club’s green identity.

The eagle connects to the club’s original name, Al-Nasr, meaning “the eagle.” Saudipedia describes Al Khaleej’s logo as featuring an eagle icon, with green and yellow as the club’s distinctive colours and official kit colours.

Al Khaleej was founded in Saihat in 1945 by local residents who wanted a football team to represent the city. The club was first known as Al-Nasr, with a yellow-and-black emblem, before being officially recognised among Eastern Province clubs in 1968.

Its name was later changed to Al Khaleej by order of King Faisal, along with the adoption of the yellow-and-green identity still used today.
