Major League Soccer (MLS) is the first division in the United States and Canada. It was founded in 1993 and currently features 30 clubs. The 2024 champions are LA Galaxy. Most titles: LA Galaxy (6), D.C. United (4), Columbus Crew (3). No promotion or relegation; 30-club closed league with a conference-based regular season (34 matches per team) followed by the MLS Cup playoffs to decide the champion. Continental qualification: up to 10 spots for the CONCACAF Champions Cup via MLS regular season and playoffs, Leagues Cup and domestic cup competitions (U.S. Open Cup, Canadian Championship).
