RB Leipzig badge meaning and origin

RB Leipzig’s badge is a white, shield-shaped crest edged in dark blue, with two red bulls charging toward a central football above the letters “RB Leipzig.” The red-and-white palette and twin bulls clearly echo Red Bull’s corporate identity, while the ball and shield frame the mark as a football club rather than a drinks logo.

German federation rules forbid teams from using overt commercial names or logos, so the club adopted the workaround name RasenBallsport Leipzig (“lawn ball sport”) and, after several rejections, introduced a modified crest in 2010, then a further-redesigned version in 2014 to satisfy Bundesliga licensing demands that it differ from the Red Bull trademark.
