PSV Eindhoven badge meaning and origin

PSV Eindhoven’s badge is a horizontal white oval edged with a gold rope border, decorated with small white pennant clips, and topped by two gold stars. Across the centre runs a field of red and white horizontal stripes, over which a white triangular pennant containing the black letters “PSV” points to the right, with “EST 1913” picked out in white at the lower rim.

The pennant recalls the flag of Philips’ company sports club from which PSV was founded in 1913, while the red-and-white hoops come from the club’s traditional shirts. The rope border and clips emphasise the flag-on-a-mast imagery and nautical styling that has been part of the crest since the 1950s. The two stars were added after PSV reached 20 national league titles, following the Dutch convention of one star for every ten championships.
