Feyenoord badge meaning and origin

Feyenoord’s badge is a black roundel with a thin gold border, the words “FEYENOORD” and “ROTTERDAM” in gold around the edge, and a central circle split vertically red and white with a large gold “F” sitting across both halves. The red-and-white field echoes the half-and-half shirts adopted in 1912 and still used as the club’s traditional colours.

The circular crest with the prominent “F” and club-plus-city wordmark has been the basic formula since the 1990s, later refined with gold detailing for the centenary era.  A 2024 update made subtle adjustments—brightening the red segment, re-centering the “F” and removing the thin golden dividing line between red and white—while keeping the historic Rotterdam roundel instantly recognisable.
