Anápolis badge meaning and origin

Anápolis Futebol Clube’s badge is a black-and-white shield with vertical stripes in the lower section and a red diagonal band crossing the centre. The band carries the white initials “A.F.C.,” while a small football appears in the upper-left white field and a gold star sits above the shield.

The initials stand for Anápolis Futebol Clube, the club from Anápolis, Goiás. The black, white and red colours form the club’s tricolour identity, while the football is the direct sporting element in the badge. The gold star refers to Anápolis’s 1965 Campeonato Goiano title.

The club was founded on 1 May 1946 as União Esportiva Operária, created by workers connected to cart services in the city. That origin helped shape its image as a popular club, in contrast with more elite local football projects of the period.

The Anápolis Futebol Clube name was adopted later, while the modern badge keeps a traditional shield, the AFC initials and the tricolour palette as its central identity.
