Liga Profesional de Fútbol is the top division of Argentine football. Argentina has one of the oldest national league traditions in world football, with top-flight competition dating back to 1891, while the current Liga Profesional structure is organized by the Liga Profesional de Fútbol under the AFA. The competition currently features 30 clubs and uses short tournaments, group stages and annual-table rules rather than a simple European-style league calendar.
