Associação Atlética Ponte Preta’s badge is a black-and-white shield with a thick black border and a white central field. Across the middle runs a black diagonal band, with the initials “AAPP” placed inside the shield to represent the club’s full name.
The diagonal black band is the key visual reference to Ponte Preta, meaning “Black Bridge.” The club was founded in Campinas on 11 August 1900 near a black-painted wooden railway bridge, giving both the team and the surrounding identity their name.
Ponte Preta’s first badge was a simple black circle with the initials “AAPP” in the centre. The more traditional shield was created in 1908 by João Burghi, one of the club’s patrons, with inspiration from German club badges from the early 20th century, especially around Hamburg and Berlin.
Later versions refined the shield and typography, but the black-and-white palette, initials and bridge-like diagonal stripe remained the core of Ponte Preta’s visual identity.
