The red cross on white comes from the civic coat of arms of Padua and is central to the club’s nickname, “I Biancoscudati” — “The White-Shielded.” The red and white colours were adopted at the club’s foundation and match the traditional colours of the city.

Padova was founded on 29 January 1910 as Associazione Calcio Padova. Its historic badge has long been based on the same split-shield idea: the city cross on one side and the club initials or name on the other.

After the club’s 2014 refoundation, the wording changed temporarily, but the classic shield identity returned as Calcio Padova restored its traditional name and visual heritage.
