NEC Nijmegen’s badge is a black-framed shield with three vertical panels in red, green and black, topped by a stylised black double-headed eagle and centred on large white “NEC” initials, with a white tab below reading “NIJMEGEN” and the legend “SINCE 1900.” The red-green-black tricolour comes from NEC’s traditional shirts, where a green band on red with black trim became the club’s trademark after the merger that formed Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie.  

The double-headed eagle is borrowed from Nijmegen’s historic coat of arms and symbolises the city’s former imperial status within the Holy Roman Empire.  The word “Nijmegen” and the “1900” date anchor the crest in its working-class origins around the Eendracht club founded that year.
