Fortaleza’s badge is an inverted white triangular shield with a blue outline, topped by a single gold star. At the top sits a white horizontal bar framed in blue with the word “FORTALEZA” in blue capitals, while the lower triangle is split by a diagonal white band, forming a blue field on the left and a red field on the right.
These red, blue and white “cores tricolores” were chosen by founder Alcides Santos as a homage to the French flag during Fortaleza’s belle époque period. The current triangular escutcheon dates from the mid-1960s and has since been refined, with the lone gold star above the crest reserved to represent the club’s national-level titles under its updated star policy.
