América Futebol Clube’s badge is a simple green-and-white emblem built around the intertwined initials “AFC.” The club accepts two official versions: green letters on a white background and white letters on a green background. The modern badge is often shown with two gold stars above it.
The initials stand for América Futebol Clube, the club’s official name since its foundation in Belo Horizonte on 30 April 1912. Green and white were the original colours chosen at the club’s creation, while black was added to the statute in 1913 and later became part of América’s wider tricolour identity.
América is notable for preserving the same name and core badge identity throughout its history. The interlaced AFC monogram has remained the central element, rather than a shield, animal or landmark, making it one of the cleanest traditional marks in Brazilian football.
The rabbit nickname, Coelho, has been part of the club since 1944, created by cartoonist Fernando Pieruccetti, but the animal does not appear on the official badge.
