FC Utrecht badge meaning and origin

FC Utrecht’s badge is a compact shield with a black outline, divided by a bold black diagonal band running from top right to bottom left and carrying the white word “UTRECHT.” The upper field is white with a red “F,” while the lower field is red with a white “C,” forming a simple, high-contrast monogram. The red-and-white halves and diagonal layout are taken directly from the city of Utrecht’s coat of arms, so the crest visually ties the club to the municipality it represents.

The current logo, refined again in 2021 under the “back to origin” concept, deliberately restores the original red-white-black colour combination used when the club was founded in 1970 after the DOS–Velox–Elinkwijk merger.
