Vitória Sport Clube’s badge is a black-and-white shield with diagonal geometric sections, a stylized “VSC” monogram, and the statue of Dom Afonso Henriques holding a sword in the centre. The whole design uses the club’s traditional black-and-white identity.
Dom Afonso Henriques was the first king of Portugal and is strongly linked to Guimarães, the city often called the birthplace of Portugal. Vitória’s official history presents him as a symbol for a club of conquerors and fearless men who fight for their goals.
Vitória SC was founded in Guimarães on 22 September 1922. Early shirts used only a “VSC” monogram or the letter “V” before the full badge appeared in the late 1920s, designed by Captain Mário Cardoso.
Older versions included the king figure, shield and initials, while a mural crown was added in the 1950s and later removed. The current badge keeps the black-and-white palette, VSC initials and Afonso Henriques statue as its core identity.
