Volta Redonda Futebol Clube’s badge is a black shield with a white inner outline and the initials “VRFC” in white across the top. In the lower centre, a yellow burst of lightning-like arrows radiates from one point, giving the mark its distinctive industrial look.
The initials stand for Volta Redonda Futebol Clube, founded to represent the city of Volta Redonda in the Rio de Janeiro state championship. The black, yellow and white colours match the official colours of the municipality and have defined the club since its creation.
Volta Redonda was founded on 9 February 1976, after the merger of the Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara football federations created a need for a city representative in the new state competition. Its identity is closely tied to Volta Redonda’s reputation as the Cidade do Aço, or “Steel City.”
The lightning burst connects the badge to the city’s steelmaking image and industrial strength, a theme also present in the club’s Voltaço nickname.
