Necaxa was founded in 1923 by William H. Fraser, an engineer linked to the Mexican Light and Power Company. That origin gave the team its early nickname “Los Electricistas,” while the club name came from the Necaxa River, associated with the company’s hydroelectric activity.
The red and white colours became central to the club’s identity and produced the nickname “Los Rojiblancos.” In the 1980s, the club also adopted the nickname “Los Rayos,” a reference that connects naturally to its electrical roots.
The badge has been modernized over time, but its core identity remains stable: red-and-white stripes, a shield format and stars above the crest. A centenary-era update kept the same general structure while refining the typography and stripe layout.
