Burnley’s current badge places a simplified white version of the town’s coat-of-arms-style crest on a claret shield, with “Burnley Football Club” in a scroll beneath. At the top a stork holds a Lacy knot in its beak, referencing the Starkie and de Lacy families who once dominated the area; it stands on a hill and cotton plants that nod to Burnley’s Pennine setting and textile heritage.
Below, a hand symbolises the town motto “Hold to the Truth,” flanked by two bees for the town’s hard-working character and the old Bee Hole End terrace.
The lion and wavy chevron represent royal patronage and the River Brun, completing a crest whose 2023 redraw modernised the look without losing its densely packed local symbolism.
