Sport Recife’s badge is a black shield filled with seven diagonal red-and-black stripes, over which a gold rampant lion faces right, holding a small shield in its front paws; above the crest sit three stars, gold on the sides and silver in the centre. The striped background follows the club statute, which defines the escudo with alternating rubro-negro bands as the visual core of Sport’s identity.
The lion was adopted after the club won the “Leão do Norte” trophy in Belém in 1919, and also pays homage to Pernambuco’s historic coat of arms and the state’s nickname “Leão do Norte.”
The stars record major titles: the two larger gold ones mark the 1987 Brasileiro and 2008 Copa do Brasil, while the smaller silver star celebrates the 1990 Série B triumph.
