AS Roma’s updated badge brings back one of the club’s most historic visual identities: the Capitoline Wolf above the intertwined “ASR” monogram, inside a yellow-and-maroon shield. The crest uses Roma’s traditional giallorossi colours and returns to a style closely associated with the club’s older emblems from the mid-20th century.
The upper half shows the Lupa Capitolina, the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus. This is the founding myth of Rome and the strongest civic symbol in the club’s identity, linking AS Roma directly to the city it represents.
The lower half features the classic “ASR” monogram, standing for Associazione Sportiva Roma. Its return is important because it replaces the more literal “ROMA” wordmark used on recent crests with a symbol that feels more historic, compact and closely tied to the club’s earlier visual tradition.
The yellow border, maroon lower field and detailed wolf illustration give the badge a more heritage-driven look than the simplified modern crest. It feels like a restoration rather than a total redesign: the same Roman mythology, but with the old ASR identity placed back at the centre.
AS Roma was founded in 1927, and the club has long used the wolf and twins as its defining emblem. This updated crest reflects that history clearly: the myth of Rome, the Capitoline Wolf, the giallorossi colours and the restored ASR monogram for one of Italy’s most iconic football clubs.
